The Morning Sports Report a hit

More than 460 sports fans and business leaders attended The Morning Sports Report, held July 30 at the Arena District Hyatt Regency.

The sixth annual event, hosted by the Greater Columbus Sports Commission, featured Clark Kellogg, lead basketball analyst for CBS Sports and former Buckeye great.

Hosts Jeff Hogan and Dom Tiberi of WBNS-10TV also interviewed leaders from Columbus sports organizations, including:

  • Scott Howson, general manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets
  • Mark McCullers, president and general manager of the Columbus Crew
  • Ken Schnacke, president and general manager of the Columbus Clippers
  • Gene Smith, associate vice president and director of athletics for The Ohio State University
  • Bill Burns, chair of the board for the Columbus Marathon
  • Dr. Michael Caligiuri, director of the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center and chief executive officer of The James for the Pelotonia
  • Jeff Newman, McDonald's co-op president for Central Ohio for the McDonald's All American High School Basketball Games

Other special guests in the audience included sports celebrities Mike Conley, James “Buster” Douglas, Bill Hosket, Jim Lachey and Scoonie Penn.

Attendees also were able to learn about Columbus sports organizations during a Fan Fair, held in conjunction with the event. And, attendees received free tickets to Columbus sporting events – including the Arnold Sports Festival, the Blue Jackets, the Clippers, the Crew, National Trail Raceway, Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational, OSU women’s basketball and men’s ice hockey, and the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s state girls basketball tournament – a value of $225.

The Morning Sports Report was presented by the American Dairy Association, which announced at the event a major partnership with the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
