A Message From the DirectorDear Greater Columbus Sports Commission supporter:
The Ohio High School Athletic Association has long been one of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission's most important partners.
Columbus has a long and rich history of hosting OHSAA state championship tournaments, including the popular boys basketball, girls basketball and wrestling state championships that are held each March at The Ohio State University's Value City Arena.
But the Columbus-OHSAA partnership extends well beyond our own version of March Madness. Columbus hosts 17 boys and girls basketball championships throughout the year, including the upcoming soccer, cross country, field hockey, golf and girls tennis championships that will be staged in our community in October and November.
The Greater Columbus Sports Commission is very proud to add another state championship event to our list beginning in 2014.
The OHSAA Board of Directors voted late this summer to bring its State Football Championships to Ohio Stadium in 2014 and 2015, a partnership that we hope will extend well into the future. Columbus last bid on the state football championships in 2004, but our bid then fell short.
Thanks to the hard work of many, including our Sales Manager Jeffrey John, the Greater Columbus community presented a much more comprehensive bid that featured the support of our partners, including The Ohio State University. The proposal also included the return of the championship games to Ohio Stadium, one of football's most hallowed stadiums.
To stay up to date on all events, please visit our website at www.ColumbusSports.org on a regular basis. Among the many features you'll find is an updated Calendar of Events that includes hundreds of professional, collegiate and youth sporting events.
Thank you again for your support of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission.
Sincerely,
Linda Shetina Logan
Executive Director
